JOY WAMAHIGA

Founder & CEO

Meet JOY, your pragmatic and influential environmental trainer and project manager at OLA. With a solid educational foundation in environmental studies and community development, including a bachelor's and master's degree, JOY brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.

As a team leader, JOY has a proven track record of successfully steering operations in diverse environmental and multicultural settings. As a project manager, they possess exceptional leadership skills and know how to inspire teamwork that drives performance improvements.

Notable achievements include the 2015 Cash-for-Work project in Huruma slums, where JOY facilitated community training on recycling brickets for sustainable livelihoods. In 2017, as a project manager in Kiandutu slum, JOY spearheaded a household economic strengthening project. JOY has also lent their expertise to government projects like NAMSIP and Inua Jamii in supervisory roles.

Since 2020, JOY has been actively conducting environmental training in schools and churches, overseeing the growth of 1000 tree seedlings to combat climate change, and educating young teens about environmental conservation through art and recycled materials. Communities have embraced and implemented these practices in their homes and villages.

In addition, JOY is a dedicated team leader in a youth education empowerment project, where they document success stories to secure funding for educating underprivileged youths in Nairobi's slums. Thanks to JOY's efforts, three young individuals have gained the confidence and skills needed to sustain themselves and approach life with newfound confidence.
